　　据美联社报道，当地时间3月10日，埃塞俄比亚航空公司一架波音737飞机于8时38分从该国首都亚的斯亚贝巴起飞，飞往肯尼亚首都内罗毕，机上有149名乘客及8名机组人员。起飞6分钟后，飞机即在亚的斯亚贝巴南部约50千米处失事。

　　执飞的是一架去年11月刚刚交付使用的波音737 MAX 8型客机。目前事故原因尚不清楚，但飞行员曾向塔台表示飞机出现问题并请求返航。

　　埃塞俄比亚航空公司在新闻发布会上表示，失事客机上载有来自全球30多个国家的乘客。

　　3名AIIC口译员遇难

　　国际会议口译员协会(AIIC)于3月10日在官网确认，共有三名AIIC会员在埃塞俄比亚飞机坠毁事件中遇难。

　　19名联合国职员遇难

　　According to the UN Department of Safety and Security in Kenya, 19 UN staff perished in the crash. The World Food Programme (WFP) lost seven staff, the Office of the High Commissioner on Refugees (UNHCR) lost two, as did the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Sudan, World Bank and UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) each lost one staff member. Six staff from the UN Office in Nairobi (UNON) were also tragically killed.

　　The disaster happened on the eve of the UN Environment Assembly when Heads of State, environment ministers and thousands of others will convene for five days in the Kenyan capital.

　　外交部领事保护中心11日消息，埃航失事客机上8名遇难中国公民身份初步确认，4人为中国公司员工，2人为联合国系统国际职员(包括1名香港居民)，另2人分别来自辽宁和浙江，为因私出行。

　　3月10日，外交部发言人陆慷就埃塞俄比亚航空客机失事答记者问，再次证实这一消息。

　　记者：据报道，当地时间3月10日，一架载有157人的埃塞俄比亚航空客机失事，机上无人生还，其中包括8名中国人。你能否介绍有关情况?

　　Q: On March 10 local time, an Ethiopian Airlines jet crashed, killing all 157 people on board, including eight Chinese. Do you have more information?

　　陆慷：据埃塞俄比亚航空公司发布的消息，当地时间3月10日上午，该公司一架计划飞往肯尼亚首都内罗毕的客机从埃塞首都亚的斯亚贝巴起飞不久后坠毁，机上149名乘客和8名机组成员无一生还。

　　A: According to information released by the Ethiopian Airlines, on the morning of March 10 local time, an Ethiopian Airlines flight crashed soon after taking off from Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia en route to Nairobi, capital of Kenya, killing all 149 passengers and eight crew members aboard.

　　获悉空难发生后，中国外交部立即指示驻埃塞俄比亚使馆启动应急机制，紧急联系埃塞政府、埃塞航空等有关方面了解情况。经核实，失事飞机上共有8名中国公民，包括1名香港居民。我们向遇难人员表示沉痛哀悼，向遇难者家属表示深切慰问。

　　After learning the incident, the Foreign Ministry immediately instructed the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia to activate emergency mechanism and contact the Ethiopian government and Ethiopian Airlines to gather more information. It has been verified that there were eight Chinese citizens on board, including one from the Hong Kong SAR. We express our deep condolences to the victims and sincere sympathy to the bereaved families.

　　中方希埃塞方尽快查明事故原因，及时向中方通报调查进展，妥善做好后续处置。中国外交部和驻埃塞俄比亚使馆将继续密切关注有关进展，全力为遇难中国公民家属处理善后提供积极协助。

　　The Chinese side hopes that the Ethiopian side will locate the cause of the crash as soon as possible, keep us informed without any delay, and properly deal with the follow-up matters. The Foreign Ministry and the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia will continue to closely follow the development of the situation and do our best to assist the families of the Chinese victims.

　　据《纽约时报》报道，事故发生后，中国成为 暂停波音737-8飞机商业运行的国家(ground all of the country’s 96 aircraft in operation)。

　　China’s Civil Aviation Administration was first to order its airlines on Monday morning to ground all of the country’s 96 aircraft in operation.

　　中国民航局率先要求各中国航空公司于周日早晨起暂停运行波音737-8飞机。

　　The Chinese aviation regulator said in its announcement that it had notified Chinese air carriers they had until 6 p.m. local time to take the planes out of service.

　　Ethiopian Airlines, which operated the flight on Sunday, later followed.
