作为一个中国学生，我们从小学就接触了英语这门语言。也是从我接触这门语言的那天起，我开始被这门语言吸引。从小学到高中，英语是我学习成绩中较突出的一门科目。高中毕业的我，又考取了大连外国语大学的英语语言文化专业，更加深入，全面，有针对性的学习英语。随着全球化的发展，英语越来越成为一门重要的语言，我认为，今天英语对于我们来说，不仅是一门语言，更是一个工具。所以，因为英语的重要性，和对这门语言与生俱来的兴趣，我选择成为一名英语专业的学生。现在的我，已经在大连外国语大学学习了三年，三年的学习让我从地理，历史，文化等各个方面更加深入的了解了英语，以及英语国家。随着越来越深入的了解，我不但对这门语言产生了更加浓厚的兴趣，也对英语国家充满了好奇。英国是被世界公认高教育质量的国家，英语也是英国人的母语，而贵校更是培育出了一代又一代英语语言专业的人才。所以，这些成为了我选择贵的原因。

刚刚步入大学，对大学生活还不是十分适应，所以大一的学习成绩并不是很。但，凭借着很强的适应性，和对英语的热爱，每个学期我都可以看到自己的进步和提高。现在的我从英语国家的历史，地理，文化，到英语语言的应用都有了更加深入的了解。我相信，这一定可以帮助我很快的融入到英国的学习生活中。这也是相对于非英语专业的学生来讲十分重要的一个势。因为我开朗的性格，和从小学习演讲朗诵的经历，使得我在写作和交际方面的成绩比较突出。在校学习的三年，每一学期的口语成绩都可以达到80分以上。文化和交际课程也取得了比较好的成果。除了专业知识以外，我还有很多个人爱好以及特长。比如从5岁起学习钢琴，并且通过了钢琴八级水平测试。在大学期间，我也选修了外国音乐作品赏析等和音乐相关的课程，并从音乐方面感受和学习了英语文化。

在课余时间，我十分喜欢参加社会实践活动，这不仅可以丰富我的人生阅历，更能帮助我不断的提高和学习。在2012年世界经济论坛达沃斯会议在大连召开，我很荣幸的成为了达沃斯会议的一名志愿者。在会议期间，不仅接触到了许多世界经济领域的人才，更重要的是学习到了更多的知识，丰富了自己的人生经历。在会议期间，不仅为自己是一名英语专业的学生为大家带来帮助而感到自豪，也认识到了自己的许多不足，在以后的学习生活中更加努力刻苦。除此之外，我常会利用假期的时间到各个国家观光旅游。这些经历也开阔了我的视野，经历了更多的未见。我想努力尝试，对新事物充满好奇，并且随时准备迎接挑战也是我的重要性格特征。

As a Chinese student, we came into contact with English from primary school. It was also on the very first day I got in touch with this language that I was attracted by it. From primary school to senior high school, my academic performance in English had always been the most prominent among all subjects. After graduation from senior high school, I was admitted by Dalian Foreign Language University English Language and Culture Major to have in-depth, comprehensive and targeted study on English. With the development of globalization, English had become a language with greater importance. As far as I’m concerned, in the present society, English is not only a language, but also a tool for us. Therefore, the importance of English as a language and my inborn interests on the language result in my decision to become an English major student. At present, I have studied in Dalian Foreign Language University for three years, during which I have got a better understanding on English and English-speaking countries in terms of geography, history and culture. As my understanding deepens, my interests on the language, as well as my interest on English-speaking countries get thicker. What’s more, the United Kingdom is recognized by the world as a country with high quality education, while English is also the mother tongue of British people; besides, your school has cultivated talents in English language generation after generation. Hence, I choose to further my education here.

When I first entered university, I was not comfortable to college life; consequently my academic record in the first year was not very good. But with my strong adaptability and my passion for English, I found myself making progress and improving all the time in each semester. By now, I have a better understanding on the history, geography and culture of English-speaking countries, as well as the application of English language. I believe that this will help me integrate into the life and learning in Britain in no time and this is also one of my important advantages over non-English major students. Due to my outgoing personality and my experience of practicing speech and reciting from childhood, my performances in writing and communication were outstanding. During three years in university, I was able to get an oral English performance of over 80 points in each semester and my cultural courses and communication courses had also obtained good achievements. Apart from professional knowledge, I also have plenty of personal hobbies and specialties; for instance, I started to learn the piano when I was 5-year-old and had passed Piano Level 8 Exam. During university, I also took up music-related courses like foreign music appreciation as optional courses and experienced and learned about English culture from the aspect of music.

In my spare time, I was very fond of participating in social practice activities, which not only enriched my life experience, but also helped me to improve and learn all the time. In 2012, World Economic Forum Davos Meeting was held in Dalian and I was much honored to have become one of the volunteers of Davos Meeting. During the meeting, I was proud of myself for being an English major student and for offering help to everybody; in addition, I also realized many of my disadvantages and decided to work harder in future study and life. Beyond that, I often took advantage of my holidays for sightseeing tour in various countries. These experiences also broadened my horizon and enabled me to experience more things I didn’t know in the past. It’s also my personality characteristics to be willing to try hard, curious for new things and ready for challenges at any time.

I hope that my study and further education in your school will help me become a more qualified English major student. I will also do my utmost to make myself a better person.
